Terms of Use
Last updated: October 14, 2026
These terms govern use of the Harbourd website and maritime community. Read them together with the community guidelines and privacy policy. By using Harbourd, you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service and eligibility
Harbourd provides public reading and invitation-only member accounts for maritime news, discussions, polls, reviewed articles, projects, and job listings. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or participate. An invitation does not guarantee continued access or publication of a contribution.
2. Accounts and security
Provide an accurate email address and choose a username that does not impersonate someone else or infringe their rights. You are responsible for your account activity and for protecting your passkeys, recovery kit, devices, and access to your email.
Do not share or sell account access or bypass an account restriction. Tell Harbourd support if you believe your account has been compromised. Support will not ask you to send a password, passkey secret, or recovery code.
3. Acceptable use
Follow the community guidelines and applicable law. Do not harass, threaten, expose private information, distribute unlawful material, infringe others’ rights, send spam, manipulate votes, or misrepresent a job or commercial relationship.
Do not attempt unauthorized access, evade security controls or rate limits, interfere with other members, or overload the service. Invitations must follow the recipient’s request or express agreement.
4. Your contributions
You retain ownership of content you contribute and are responsible for having the rights to publish it. You give Harbourd permission to host, display, distribute through its community features, and make technical or moderation changes to that content as needed to operate the service.
This permission is limited to operating the service and handling moderation, privacy, and lawful retention. Removal and account deletion follow the privacy policy; neutral discussion placeholders or restricted records may remain where explained there. Public material may have been independently copied by others. Uploads and uploaded-image delivery are currently disabled.
5. Copyright and other rights
Link to other publishers instead of reproducing their work without permission. If you believe a contribution infringes your rights, contact info@harbourd.com with the page URL, the work or right concerned, a description of the problem, and a way to reach you.
Harbourd’s name, logo, and original service materials do not become yours by using the service. Member content remains subject to its owner’s rights.
6. Community information and job listings
Posts, comments, polls, and job listings are provided by community members and may contain mistakes, omissions, or outdated information. Harbourd does not guarantee their accuracy or independently verify every claim or employer.
Community content is general information. It is not a substitute for official navigation instructions, operational safety procedures, professional advice, or your own verification. Confirm critical information with the relevant authority or qualified professional. A job listing does not establish an employment relationship with Harbourd or guarantee a hiring outcome.
7. Moderation, suspension, and closing an account
Harbourd may review or remove content, limit participation, or suspend access to address guideline violations, abuse, security incidents, legal requirements, or risks to the community. You may contact support to ask for review of a decision.
You may stop using Harbourd at any time. Account deletion is available through Settings when privacy controls are available, or through the privacy team if you cannot sign in. Suspension or stopping use does not itself erase account information; the privacy policy describes deletion and necessary retention.
8. Privacy
The privacy policy describes the information Harbourd collects, its uses and retention, providers, and your choices. Agreeing to these terms is not blanket consent to optional communications or new uses of personal information.
9. External websites and services
Links may lead to independently operated websites, publications, employers, or other services. Their terms and privacy policies apply to information you provide to them. Check the destination and its practices before sharing information or relying on a claim.
10. Availability and responsibility
Harbourd is provided as available. Features may change or be interrupted by maintenance, incidents, or provider outages. We cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free content, or that the service will meet every particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Harbourd is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service or reliance on member content. Nothing in these terms excludes liability, guarantees, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. These terms do not require you to waive a non-waivable right or a legally protected complaint or court process.
If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Not enforcing a provision on one occasion does not waive it for the future.
12. Changes to these terms
Updates will be published on this page with a revised date. Changes apply prospectively and remain subject to any legally required notice or consent. Review the current terms before continuing to use the service.
13. Contact
Contact Harbourd at info@harbourd.com about these terms, account issues, copyright, or moderation review. Send privacy requests to privacy@harbourd.com. Do not include credentials or sensitive documents in an initial report.
